Do you know that you are blessed in Christ? You are not going to be blessed; you are already blessed in Christ. If you know Christ, you are blessed.......
October 27, 2024
Do you know that you are blessed in Christ? You are not going to be blessed; you are already blessed in Christ. If you know Christ, you are blessed.
Look at any men or women of God in the Bible, and you will see one thing that is constant: God’s blessing. It is always upon their lives. God’s blessing comes with His presence. You cannot separate His blessing from His presence. Amen! So when you stay in His presence, His blessings keep following you all the time.
Now, here’s the good news: you cannot move away from God’s presence, because God is not just with you—He’s inside of you. God in you, the Christ in you, the hope of glory. Is someone listening to this today? You cannot step out from God’s presence. I’m sorry to tell you, but you cannot step out from God’s presence, because Christ is inside of you.
The only thing you can do is numb your awareness of God’s presence. But if you just become aware…do you know each of you is breathing oxygen right now? How many of you are not breathing? Can you raise your hands? Everyone seated here is breathing! But how many times in a day do you become aware of that breath? It happens so automatically, at such a subconscious level, that we don’t even realize it.
Similarly, Christ is so deeply ingrained in us that we often don’t realize He’s in us. Just as you can become aware of your breathing, you can become aware of Christ being in you. How? Just become aware.
How many of you have brains? No hands raised? Wow! Come on, you have brains! But how often are you aware of them? Can you be aware of something you have not seen? Just like that, be aware of Christ being in you at all times.
That’s why the Psalmist says:
Psalm 139:7-8 – “Where can I go from Your presence, O God? Even if I go to the highest of the heavens, You are there; if I go to the depths of hell, You are there”
You cannot go far away from His presence, period. You can only switch off your awareness, because the Bible says He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Ephesians 5:1 – “Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children.”
Do you know how children imitate? They see their parents and do exactly the same. Some of you saw your father shave, so you started pretending to shave—even though there was nothing there—because you imitated your parents. You have to imitate God as children.
Jesus said,
God wants us to be childlike, not childish. Often, we act childish rather than childlike. Spiritual maturity in the kingdom is about becoming more childlike. So, turn to your neighbor and say, “Be childlike today.” Let go of superficial maturity. Be childlike!
I want to teach you something today that is very powerful, yet simple. Do you know that the most profound things in the kingdom are often the simplest?
Paul says:
2 Corinthians 11:3 – “Don’t let anything take you away from the simplicity of the gospel that is in Christ Jesus”
The thing is, I could get your attention with something like a complex chemical chart, H plus O = H₂O, something complicated. You’d all be attentive! But the gospel is simple. The gospel is very simple, yet it’s in this simplicity that we often miss its profoundness.
I once heard a man of God say, we are often so focused on seeing the spectacular that we miss the simple, supernatural things happening in our lives. We want to see something spectacular—like a star falling from the sky, or an angel descending. But don’t miss out on the supernatural because you’re so focused on the spectacular! The supernatural is not always spectacular. In fact, the supernatural often happens in the simplest forms..
So, I’m going to teach you something very simple, but very powerful. If you start practicing this principle, you’ll begin to see your life change. You have to do it consistently to see real transformation.
Come with me to Genesis 1:2:
Genesis 1:2 – “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
Now, be childlike and start imagining this. Imagine the earth being formless, empty, and dark. Where is the Spirit of God? Hovering—over the formless, empty, and dark earth. Do you know that every formless thing in your life, every empty place, every dark area, that is exactly where the Holy Spirit is hovering?
You don’t have to hide things from the Lord, because the Lord is already there. You might think, “Oh, this is my darkest thought, my darkest place.” But the Holy Spirit is hovering over that. The Holy Spirit is where you are empty, where you are dark, where you are formless. So, the Holy Spirit is already there before you.
Do you know that even before you start your day, the Lord has already begun preparing it for you? You need to understand this: if the Lord has called you to something, He has already prepared everything for you. If the Lord led you into marriage, He has already prepared the finances for it. If He has given you children, He has already thought of the school and the fees needed. The Lord does not start before He finishes.
Hebrews 1:3 – “Before the foundation of the earth, the Lord has completed everything.”
Consider Adam’s creation: Adam was created on the sixth day, but before Adam, everything he needed was already prepared for him. Before you were born, God had already prepared everything you need for a life of godliness. You did not surprise Him with your weaknesses or decisions; He has already taken everything into consideration. Amen!
Now, let’s go back to Genesis. The Holy Spirit is hovering over the dark, empty, and formless earth. What does the Holy Spirit see? Darkness, emptiness, and formlessness.
But then,
Genesis 1:3 – “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”
Notice that God did not say what He saw; He said what He wanted to see. If we are to imitate God as dear children, we must start saying what we want to see, not simply what we see.
Everything that God created, He spoke into existence. He spoke to the air and created birds; He spoke to the water and created fish; He spoke to the earth and created animals. In fact, He spoke into Himself and created you. Everything in the universe is created by God’s Word.
Hebrews 11:3 – “By faith we understand that the entire universe, the entire cosmos, was created by God’s word.”
God does not speak about what He is experiencing; He speaks about what He is expecting. So, as His children, let’s stop talking about our experiences and start talking about our expectations.
The more you talk about your experiences, the more you magnify them. The more you talk about problems, the more they grow. If you keep looking at your bank balance and talk about how little you have, what little you have will continue to diminish. Do you know why some of your prayers aren’t working? It’s because right after praying, you cancel your prayer with negative confessions.
You may pray, “Deliver me from this trouble.” But as soon as your prayer ends, you look at your trouble and magnify it. God doesn’t say what He sees; He says what He wants to see.
Look at Genesis 1:31:
Genesis 1:31 – “And God saw everything that He had made, and it was very good.”
Notice that after speaking, God then saw that everything He had made was good. Some of us need to close our eyes, speak first, and then see. Don’t see and then speak—speak first, and then see. God speaks what He wants to see, then He sees it. So, speak what you want to see. Before you open your bank app or NetBank, start by speaking!
Start speaking. That’s what I mean. Be childlike. This message is for those who want to be childlike because the Kingdom of God is about becoming like a child. Amen. God does not speak what He sees; He speaks what He wants to see.
Let me show you another verse.
Do you know something? You have the same spirit of faith that Jesus has! The spirit of faith speaks. If you believe, you will speak. If it’s too big for your mouth, it’ll be too big for your hands. What you cannot speak, you cannot have.
Mark 11:23—Jesus said,
Mark 11:23 – “Whatever you desire, believe that you have received it, and you shall have whatever you say.”
You have what you say!
Proverbs 18:20 – “From the fruit of a man’s mouth, he shall be satisfied.”
Your increase is determined by your words. As a child of God, your life is not satisfied by hard work alone but by the words that you speak.
I once heard a man of God say, “It was easy for God to part the Red Sea, but it is difficult to part the lips of a child of God!” Practice speaking God’s word. If you can’t do it here, how will you do it Monday through Saturday? This is where you practice.
Proverbs 18:21– “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
Let’s say this together: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Do you know something? God doesn’t decide when you die—your words do.
Think of Jesus on the cross. He was pierced and nailed, but still, He didn’t die. Why? Because Jesus said in,
John 10:18 – “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.”
Jesus gave His life; no one took it from Him. He said, “Father, into your hands, I commit my spirit” had to speak for it to happen. Death and life are in the power of your tongue.
Look at Paul. The Bible says they stoned him, and when they thought he was dead, they left. But after a while, Paul got up and went back into the city to preach! Paul didn’t die until he said, “I have finished my race” ,Tomorrow is decided by what you speak today. Are you speaking life? Are you speaking healing? Are you speaking wholeness? Are you speaking peace? Are you speaking God’s word, or are you speaking contrary to what God says?
James 3:2 – “For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.”
James is saying that everyone stumbles, but the perfect person is the one who does not stumble in what he says. If you have control over your tongue, you will see good days. The devil constantly tries to influence us to say things that contradict God’s word. These aren’t our thoughts; they are the enemy’s attempts to get us to speak against our destiny. Think about this: If you say, “My life is so boring,” or “My job is so hard,” you’re speaking these things into existence. But if you speak life—saying, “My life is amazing, my job is a blessing”—you will see it.
Now, let’s look at Job 1:11.The devil tells God,
Job 1:11 – “Stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face.”
What does the devil want? He wants Job to curse God. Later, in Job 2:9, after Job has lost everything, his wife says to him,
Job 2:9 – “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
See the connection? The words coming from Job’s wife were influenced by the devil’s intent.
When we’re overwhelmed with emotions, the enemy seizes the opportunity to plant words of despair and hopelessness. Even when we feel pain, we must guard our words. Remember, God asked Eve, “Who told you that you were naked?”. This question was significant because it showed that knowledge of their nakedness wasn’t from God—it was the devil planting a suggestion.
Before this incident, Adam and Eve weren’t concerned about being naked. But now, after listening to the devil’s influence, they’re ashamed. Some information, God intentionally hides from us to keep our focus on His reality.
Consider this: Your mind doesn’t create original thoughts. Every thought is influenced—either by heaven or by the enemy. But when you speak a thought aloud, you take ownership of it, making it a reality. This is why God warned Adam, “In the day you eat of this tree, you shall surely die”. Yet Adam didn’t physically die right away; he lived to be 930 years old. Why? He wasn’t “educated” in death—he didn’t even understand the concept of dying. But once he was disconnected from God, every word he spoke was tainted by this separation.
Now, as he spoke words influenced by the curse, he saw the effects of death all around him.
It took Adam nearly 900 years to understand death, but how many more years will it take for us to truly understand life?
Jesus said,
John 11:25-26 – “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live; and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”
The second part of this statement is crucial—“whoever believes in Me…shall never die.” There is a powerful revelation here for the church, a revelation that empowers believers to overcome death, not through science, but through faith.
1 Corinthians 15:25-26 – “He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet, and the last enemy to be destroyed is death.”
Proverbs 18:21 – death and life are in the power of the tongue.
If we’re seeing lack, sickness, or trouble, we need to check our words, because our words are like the steering wheel of our lives. James 3:3-4 gives the analogy of a horse’s bit and a ship’s rudder to explain that our tongue guides the direction we take. Imagine you’re on a train headed in the wrong direction. Just like you would physically exit that train, you need to “exit” negative speech patterns and start directing your words toward life and abundance.
If you’re not satisfied with your current situation, it’s time to start speaking what you want to experience. Romans 1:16 reminds us that “the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.” And what do we do with the good news? We speak it! Speaking the truth of the gospel over our lives releases God’s power. Even in sickness, say, “By His stripes, I am healed.” Declare what God’s Word says over your life.
Romans 4:17 describes God as one “who calls into existence the things that do not exist.” Imagine calling a dog from another room by name; even if it’s not visible, you call it forth. In the same way, call forth what you need—if you need finances, call for them. Need healing? Call it forth. God instructed Joshua to keep His Word constantly on his lips,
Joshua 1:8 – “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night”.
If you want to see the Word work in your life, you have to speak it.
When David faced Goliath, he didn’t just rush into battle. He spoke words of faith first. Similarly, Jesus teaches us in Mark 11:23 to “speak to the mountain” in our lives—not to beg it to move, but to speak directly to it with authority. We don’t pray to the mountain; we pray to God and then speak to the mountain with confidence. Sometimes, we let our challenges consume our focus. But instead of magnifying the problem, magnify God above your circumstances. What do you want to see in your life? Do you want to see God come through, or do you want to see more problems coming through? Start speaking about the greatness of the Lord. Amen. Look at David—he was constantly surrounded by enemies, even after he became king, and his own son wanted to kill him. Yet his words were full of faith: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” David didn’t let his circumstances dictate his words. He spoke God’s truth, allowing it to become his reality.
The words filled with faith that come out of your mouth are the most powerful force in the universe. If you constantly focus on what you don’t like—sickness, challenges, storms—take note of what Jesus did. When Jesus encountered a fever, as in Luke 4:38-39, He rebuked it, and immediately, the fever left. That same spirit of faith resides in you. The difference is that when Jesus spoke, things happened instantly. Praise God for the grace that we have when things don’t change immediately, allowing us time to repent if we’ve spoken carelessly. But as you remain faithful in speaking God’s Word, you’ll find that the time it takes for change begins to shorten.
Imagine faith like a weapon. When you start, it’s like a small pistol—one shot may not take down your challenges. But you keep speaking and declaring God’s Word, building faith, and soon, it’s like moving up to a shotgun. Eventually, you’ll wield spiritual power like a bazooka, where one declaration brings breakthrough. This starts by consistently training your tongue to speak God’s Word at all times.
Declare this: “I will not say anything that is contrary to God’s Word; I will only speak God’s Word.” Amen. When you speak faith, no challenge can overcome you. You will overcome every challenge by the words of your mouth.
In Matthew 21:20-21, when the disciples marveled at the withered fig tree, Jesus told them that they, too, could speak to mountains. Jesus wasn’t just performing miracles for His sake; He was showing us what is possible through faith. He said, “You shall do greater works than I have done.” Jesus faced storms and rebuked them, knowing that everything created by God’s Word responds to God’s Word.
Your bank account, your job, even your circumstances—they all listen to the words you speak over them. If you don’t like where you are right now, start steering your life with your tongue. Declare blessings, strength, and victory. When we began declaring God’s promises over Lighthouse Church, there was nothing yet to show for it. I wasn’t even the pastor then, but we declared it in faith, and everything we see today was spoken yesterday. Don’t be surprised at what I’m saying if you don’t know our story. We’ve been in this city for three years, and every year, God has promoted us, thanks to the words we’ve spoken for that promotion. If you keep speaking increase, you’ll keep receiving increase. Don’t settle for a 20-30% promotion; speak for a 100%! Say, “Lord, I want double, double, double,” and declare a hundred percent increase. Speak for a double portion, and declare that whatever you made last year will be doubled this year. If you can’t start speaking faith, you can’t have what you don’t speak.
Too often, we make permanent decisions based on temporary problems. Maybe someone hurt you in a business deal, and now you’ve decided you’ll never do business again. Or someone broke your heart, and now you’re convinced all relationships are harmful. But realize the power of your words—you’re speaking into your own destiny. You’re creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Back in 2013 or 2014, when I started my ministry, I would receive gifts without even asking. There’s a grace that was on my life. Once, when I was young, I heard about a book called The Cross and the Switchblade, and I wished to read it. Not long after, someone visiting from Switzerland handed it to me as a gift, without me ever asking.
I’ve constantly seen God’s favor come to me in this way. Once, I desired some new shirts, and God sent someone from the U.S. with an entire suitcase filled with brand-new shirts, just for me. I was so surprised, even embarrassed, at such generosity. If you aren’t a bit embarrassed by how blessed you are, you’re not there yet! In 2015, during worship nights, I prayed for a Yamaha Motif XF7 keyboard, the latest model at that time. Within a few months, someone brought it to me as a gift. I didn’t even have to pray out loud—just desiring it was enough.
As the ministry grew, a friend approached me, wanting to buy me a car. I felt embarrassed and unworthy, so I refused, thinking I’d be fine with something smaller. Later, I regretted it deeply, realizing I had unknowingly cut off God’s grace. That decision left me struggling to make payments on a car that could have been a gift. I repented and told God I was willing to receive His gifts. From that moment, I saw that grace return.
The words we speak are powerful; they can open or close doors to God’s blessings. Have you unknowingly stopped God’s favor because of something you’ve spoken? Here’s the good news: you can change your words to change your life. Words are more powerful than sticks and stones; they shape our reality. Many of us carry limits because of things spoken to us long ago—words that someone else spoke and that we believed. It’s time to break free. Speak life, speak faith, and watch as God’s grace flows into your life.
Words are incredibly powerful. Whether your parents said it, someone else said it, or you yourself said it, the words spoken over your life have a lasting impact. But here’s the good news: if you repent and change your mindset, those words lose their power over you. Repentance means to change your mind, to change the way you think about what has been spoken over you. In God’s presence, repentance breaks the power of those words.
As a man of God, I declare over your life that no weapon formed against you will prosper. Any curse, any negative spell, any wrong word spoken against you will fall to the ground in the name of Jesus. Every limitation that was caused by spoken words over your life is canceled today in Jesus’ name.
How do curses work? Through words. And how do blessings work? Through words! Your words shape your destiny, and you can speak blessings into your own life. You don’t need to wait for someone else to speak over you. You have the power to declare God’s promises over your life.
I remember being a sickly child, constantly prone to illness. But when I received the revelation of the power of God’s Word, everything changed. The moment I feel symptoms of sickness, I speak God’s healing word over myself. I remember traveling on a train once, feeling feverish, but I refused to accept it. I confessed the scripture, “The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me and gives life to my mortal body,” over and over throughout the night. By morning, I was completely healed.
This is the power of words. Jesus spoke to Lazarus, and even though he had been dead for four days, Lazarus rose from the dead. Jesus didn’t just speak life to him; He spoke him out of the grave. Words are not bound by natural limits—they have the power to change anything, no matter how impossible it seems.
Joshua, when fighting a battle, spoke to the sun and the moon, commanding them to stand still so they could finish the battle. It didn’t matter that scientifically, we know the sun doesn’t move. Joshua’s faith didn’t depend on understanding how it would happen; he spoke and it happened. This is how powerful your words are—don’t let logic or natural knowledge stop you from speaking God’s Word into your life.
When you speak God’s Word over your situation, don’t worry about how it’s going to come to pass. Trust that God’s Word is powerful enough to change your circumstances, even when you can’t see the way. What do you want to see in your life? Speak it into existence. Speak abundance, health, clarity, energy, and victory in the name of Jesus.
Speak what you want to see in your life, and don’t worry about how God will do it. Let Him handle the “how.” Our role is to speak His Word and trust in His power. Many times, we sing about giving God the glory, but if we truly want to give Him glory, we need to let Him do all the work. We can’t try to fix things ourselves while expecting to give God the credit. Don’t try to help God; just speak His Word over your life and situations.
But here’s the key: what you speak must be in agreement with God’s Word. If what you’re speaking doesn’t align with His Word, don’t speak it. Make sure your declarations are based on what God has already promised in Scripture. Look at Mary’s response when the angel told her she would have a child: “Be it unto me according to your word.” She didn’t question or try to understand the “how”; she simply agreed with God’s Word.
Now, let’s talk about the connection between generosity and prosperity. The key to prosperity is your generosity. But sometimes, when we give, we expect God to immediately bless us with money in our accounts. While that does happen, God’s blessings often come through His Word. For example, last year, my family and I sowed into God’s kingdom with the belief that God would bless us with increase. But it wasn’t immediate financial gain; instead, God gave us a word: we were going to move out and expand. Even though we didn’t have the finances or the believers yet, we stepped out in faith, holding on to that Word. The Word of God is powerful, and when He gives you a Word, hold on to it—it will bring fruit.
I’ll give you a final story from Luke 5. Jesus asked Peter for his boat, and Peter, in his generosity, gave it to Jesus. After using the boat to preach, Jesus told Peter to cast his net into the deep. Now, Peter, an expert fisherman, knew there were no fish there. Yet, he agreed to do it, saying, “But at your word, I will do it.” The result was a net-breaking, boat-sinking catch of fish. Peter’s willingness to obey the Word of God resulted in an overflow of blessings.
This shows that when God speaks a Word into your life, it brings creation. Peter didn’t see any fish in the sea, but by obeying God’s Word, the fish came from God’s power, not from the sea. What you don’t have in your natural circumstances, God can create through His Word. This is why, when you give generously, you position yourself to hear God’s Word. The Word is more precious than anything money can buy, because it has the power to bring forth abundance, health, and prosperity in your life.
Every account that you have will be filled, but you’ll have to call all your parents, relatives, and everybody else to help you support in this abundance. But it can only happen for those who are willing to say, “Lord, at Your word, I shall do it.” Amen. See, I’m telling you, these are very powerful truths. That’s why when you give, what you’re doing is becoming receptive to hear God’s voice. A lot of times this has happened with me too. A lot of times I’ve given, and I’m waiting on finances to come into my account, and I don’t see anything, and I get disappointed. But you know what? Every time you give, God will release a word over your life because that word is more precious than any money that comes into your account.
Tell me something: when Peter was toiling night and day, were there any fish in the sea? So now, suddenly, where did the fish come from? Where did they come from? It was not from the sea. It didn’t come from the sea. It came from the words of Jesus. Amen. What you don’t have, when you agree with God’s word, God’s word can create that in your life.
You agree with God’s word, and God will create the desires of your heart for you. Agree with God’s word. All you need is God’s word. What do you need to buy a house? The word. What do you need for ministry? The word. What do you need for business? The word. What do you need for increase? The word. What do you need for salary promotion? Favor? All that you need in your life is God’s word. When you agree with this word and start confessing it, the word will create everything. Amen. So start speaking. Start speaking.
You know, I keep speaking this: “I am blessed of the Lord. I am blessed to be a blessing. I am so rich. I am so highly prosperous.” And you know, when I speak the most is when my bank account is speaking to me the most. Because the bank account tells me, “You are useless. You are nothing. You lack. What are you talking about?” That’s when I speak even louder. I will not bow down to this idol. I will not let the pressure of the devil or the pressure of the situation make me bow down. I’m going to speak God’s word.
Receive it! Before the end of this year, receive a promotion! Promotion! Come on, receive a promotion! Amen! Amen! Before the end of this year, if you’re waiting to get married, receive the right proposal. Who’s receiving this? Speak God’s word with conviction, because you can only have what you speak. Speak God’s word. Be aggressive about it. Be so aggressive.
I’m telling you, the word of God will not return void. It will accomplish its task.
Isaiah 55:11 – “My word that proceeds from my mouth will not return to me void, but it will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
So, how do you release God’s word? Do you throw the Bible to release it? No. You give voice to His word. You give voice to His word. So, give voice to God’s word, and start seeing it manifest in your life.
Your delight is in God’s word. Meditate on it day and night, and what will happen? You shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in its season. Your leaf will not wither, and whatever you do—whatever you do—you shall prosper. Say with me, “I will not dry up. I will not faint. I will always be fruitful, and I will always be prosperous.” Don’t look at the news and get afraid. Speak God’s word over the news.
