Many believers are only familiar with the gospel of salvation—the message that through Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we have eternal life. But Jesus proclaimed something bigger: the gospel of the kingdom.
“Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” – Mark 1:14–15
Salvation is the doorway, but the kingdom is the life we live after stepping inside. The gospel of salvation gives us entry; the gospel of the kingdom shows us our privileges and responsibilities as citizens.
The Bible notes that Jesus began preaching after John the Baptist was arrested—just as Joshua began leading after Moses. Kingdom leadership follows God’s timing and order.
Even Jesus submitted to John’s baptism, teaching us that the kingdom operates with protocols.
“No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
Submission and timing matter. Rushing ahead or bypassing God’s order leads to fruitlessness, but waiting on His timing ushers us into our true calling.
Jesus began His ministry not in Jerusalem, the religious center, but in Galilee—a place of ordinary people. This shows that the kingdom is not for the elite, but for all.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” – Luke 4:18
If the gospel works among the ordinary, it can work for anyone.
When Jesus said “repent,” He wasn’t asking for ritualistic sorrow. Repentance means change your mind. It involves unlearning, learning, and relearning. Many miss the kingdom because they cling to traditions, doctrines, or past revelations instead of holding onto the living person of Jesus.
“You cannot pour new wine into old wineskins.” – Mark 2:22
Repentance positions us to receive the reality of the kingdom.
The kingdom is not merely a future place we go after death. Jesus declared:
“The kingdom of God is within you.” – Luke 17:21
Wherever God’s rule and reign manifest, His kingdom is present. When His kingdom touches sickness, healing comes. When it touches depression, peace flows. When it invades chaos, order is restored.
The reality of heaven is available now, within us. The challenge is to let it overflow into our lives, homes, and decisions.
To access the kingdom within, we must stay rooted in God’s Word.
“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.” – Hebrews 2:1
The Word is spiritual food. Just as the body weakens without eating, our spirit weakens without the Word. Feeding daily on Scripture strengthens us, sharpens our authority, and equips us with “ammunition” against the enemy.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4
