Taking dominion involves the authority to recover things that have been lost or stolen by the enemy, whether that is peace, joy, healing, or fruitfulness. When operating in the gift of faith a unique dimension of the Holy Spirit distinct from saving faith a believer is empowered with the boldness and courage required to enter the enemy’s camp and take back what was taken. This spiritual authority leads to an immediate turnaround in circumstances that previously seemed irreversible.
The story of the woman
Mark 5:25-26 – And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood 12 years,And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.
exemplifies a state of total hopelessness: And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for 12 years… and who had suffered much under many physicians and had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. Beyond the physical exhaustion of bleeding for twelve years, she faced severe psychological and social torment. According to her condition rendered her socially unclean, resulting in complete isolation from her family and society. Having exhausted her finances on physicians who ultimately deemed her case medically impossible, she reached the epitome of hopelessness.
Transformation began for this woman when she heard the reports about Jesus. This aligns with the doctrinal truth in
Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
That faith comes by hearing. Just as fear and shame come by hearing bad news, hope and faith are generated by hearing the good news of the Gospel. The reports she heard likely included the accounts recorded in
Matthew 4:23 – And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom… healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
Jesus never proclaimed the Gospel without accompanying signs of healing and transformation, because the purpose of the Gospel is to bring the reality of heaven into the physical life of the believer.
The Authority of Your Testimony
Spiritual warfare is not fought with physical weapons but with words.
Revelation 12:10 – And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
He uses words to claim legal authority over a person’s life through guilt and condemnation. However, the believer overcomes these accusations through a dual approach found in
Revelation 12:11- And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
And they… have conquered him… by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony.
While the blood of Jesus cancels the enemy’s legal right, the believer must declare the word of their testimony to see that victory manifested. Before faith works, it must speak. As stated in
2 Corinthians 4:13 – We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
The spirit of faith speaks. By confessing the Word of God such as “I am the righteousness of God” or “It is finished”the believer rises above emotions of bitterness or fear and activates the power of God.
Holistic Salvation and Restored Identity
When the woman touched Jesus’ garment with intentional faith,
Mark 5:29 – And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague
records that immediately the flow of blood dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. Jesus’ response
Mark 5:34 – And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
was to restore her identity: Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your disease.
1 Corinthians 1:18 – For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
notes that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are being to those who are perishing, but it is a power of God to those who are being saved. Believers are commanded to work the Word and make it effective in their lives. As Paul charged Timothy
1 Timothy 1:18 – This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare.
This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies
previously made about you, that by them… you may wage the good warfare. This warfare involves binding the power of darkness and releasing the power of God. When challenges arise after receiving a word from God, it is an opportunity to stand firm on the promise, knowing that according to
Isaiah 55:11- So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
